Catch the Funk at PHXLIGHTS: Solar Sound System with J. Worra

Posted March 11, 2025

PHXLIGHTS always delivers a diverse and well-rounded lineup, and this year is no exception. With dubstep, future bass, tech house, and all around high energy performances, there’s one artist booked to bring the perfect dose of groovy house music to the mix: J. Worra. A female standout in the male-dominated house music scene, her sound is a perfect balance of funky, deep, and techy…  you can’t help but catch a little dance to the beat with any pick from her discography.

J. Worra is from the birthplace of house music: Chicago. While she’s stated that she’s always had a deep connection to the house genre, J. Worra doesn’t just stick to tradition. She brings her own modern, bass driven kick to every release, and successfully makes each one different from the last. Just listen to “Like XO” and you’ll understand. She talks often on her socials and in interviews that her goal behind blending these bouncy basslines with catchy lyrics is to make people feel like they belong on the dance floor, and feel good dancing in the skin you’re in. Hearing those layers of unique sound on a massive sound system, dancing to the funky beat is what house music is all about. Whether she’s dropping her own tracks or collabing with names like Gorgon City, Disco Lines, and Kaskade, her style has always been a breath of fresh air on a festival lineup.

Since PHXLIGHTS is known for delivering hard-hitting names from each genre, J. Worra is exactly what the lineup needs to balance out the heavy bass and experimental main stage acts. Her sound is going to bring a vibey, rolling groove that gets everyone dancing. Check out my favorite J. Worra song, “Bones” for that underground, wonky beat or listen to “Chunk Funk” for that pure groove vibes with her signature layer of funk. Her most popular release, “Check Out,” will be the song that gets the entire crowd singing in unison.

J. Worra will be the perfect set to lose yourself in the rhythm and get the night rolling. Even for the bassheads, her ability to blend deep, tech, and bass house together will build up the good energy into the night. She can go underground and gritty or keep it light and fun based off the crowd, and that versatility is what makes her such a must see act this year.
